inclusion. What you may not know is how many of those folks are continuing to ‘make moves’
worthy of celebration. We created ‘Makin’ Moves Membership News’ to celebrate and share
news for you about YOU!

Awards

NAMIC Advisory Board Member and SVP Talent at Comcast Grace Killelea was named to the Multichannel News 2011 class of Wonder Women in March. This honor is bestowed upon female executives whose achievements and accomplishments have shaped and will continue to impact the cable, broadband and telecommunications industries.

Births

NAMIC Communications Committee Member, Lauren Simmonds-Chatman gave birth in February to a baby girl, Nylah Yasmin Chatman (NYC). Nylah is Lauren’s second child and weighed in at 9 lbs., 9 oz. and was 22.5 inches long.

New Positions & Promotions

NAMIC Sponsorship Committee Co-Chair Mike Gala has been promoted to Director of Operations, Vendor Relationship Management for Comcast Interactive Media (CIM). In this role, he will continue to expand CIM’s Vendor Management function overseeing about 100+ vendors supporting CIM. Mike is also championing the Bottom-up efficiencies program at CIM that synergizes with the OneComcast program. Mike has been with comcast for over four years and has recently become been an active NAMIC member.

NAMIC Membership Committee Co-Chair Nicolas Jimenez has been promoted to Manager of External Affairs for Comcast Corporation. In this role, he will continue to support Comcast’s political fundraising and communications efforts and is the administrator of a Comcast’s three million dollar annual Matching Gift Program. Nicolas started in the External Affairs department as an intern four years ago and has been an active NAMIC member for two years.

NAMIC Communications Committee Chair Elizabeth A. Morrison has joined MARS Drinks as Global Director Internal Communications. In her new role, she is developing a comprehensive communications strategy to support and advance the business transformation and growth of MARS Drinks globally. Elizabeth has been in the communications industry for more than 12 years, the chair of NAMIC Communications for three years and in 2010 joined the NAAAHR Philadelphia Board as VP Communications.

NAMIC Member Jamila Patton was promoted to a Senior Manager in Corporate Communications at Comcast. In this role, she will continue to assist in developing and managing external consumer communications for Comcast’s online, voice and new business products and services. She has been with Comcast for a little under three years, has been in the communications field for eight years and a NAMIC Philadelphia member for two years.

Professional Events & Organizations

NAMIC Advisory Board Member and SVP Talent at Comcast Grace Killelea was the featured presenter at the National Association of African American in Human Resources (NAAAHR) Philadelphia March Membership event. Her thought provoking and highly entertaining seminar, “Stop, Drop and Roll”, captivated the audience of more than 100 professionals with insights on surviving and thriving in today’s highly competitive and challenging professional environment.

NAMIC Mentorship Committee Co-chair and Comcast Director Supplier Diversity, Ajamu Johnson has joined the 2010-2011 class of the Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP). ELDP is offered by NAMIC (national) and targets upper-middle managers (executives of color) whose performance and potential puts them on track for executive-level responsibilities with increasing business scope. Ajamu has been with Comcast and a member of NAMIC-Philadelphia for more than three years and also severs on the Membership Committee.

NAMIC Advisory Board member and Comcast SVP of Employee Engagement Ron Phillips reestablished the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of African American in Human Resources (NAAAHR). The organization serves as a national forum where Black and African American Human Resources practitioners can share, gain information and provide leadership on issues affecting their individual careers and the global workforce.
